We know that there is a little geek in all of us – a geek who wants to create apps. We also know that you have some amazing ideas for those apps. That’s why we wanted to provide you with the tools, training and assets, to get you started with developing apps and launch them off to the world!
Geek Out is a collection of events, online and offline, which are aimed to help you create amazing Windows 8 apps and publish them to the Windows 8 Store. There are seminars, workshops and hackathons happening all around Finland – and the best part is..they’re all free!

It’s been great to see that so many Windows Phone developers join us in different events, from the Amigos-tour to WOWZAPP and the Starat-tour! Most of these events have had a Windows 8 focus and we’ve been building some great Windows 8 apps in addition to Windows Phone. But now it’s time to have a pure Windows Phone 8 training!
We’ll organize a training with a speaker from Redmond. In the event you’ll get an introduction to Windows Phone 8 development and explain the new features of WP8. It’s a great day for all developers! Yesterday we saw some great devices coming from Nokia, HTC and Samsung! And I know all of you have been waiting for the Windows Phone 8 SDK and the wait is almost over.. soon we’ll have it!
To get a headstart on your app development with Windows Phone 8, you should join as at the WOWZAPP-codenight. We’ll have great trainers for Windows Phone 8 and representatives from the Windows Phone Design team from Redmond. It’s a great chance to learn Windows Phone development from the best and get your application known. As you know AppCampus is also joining us and awarding the best idea with 20 000€
Isn’t the event just about Windows 8?
Nope. The event is called “WOWZAPP: Worldwide hackathon for Windows”, so both Windows 8 and Windows Phone are a part of this. We will have trainers that are experts in both platforms and they will be able to help you create your own app.

Kimo Boissonnier
CEO of Tuliotus
Project Manager – Student Projects in Nokia Student Innovation Lab
Kimo Boissonnier started to work with mobile games as a student in Nokia in 1998 and has since then actively practiced game design and programming. A real geek with a passion of gadgets, working with embedded systems and most importantly teaching all aspect of game development to the younger generation.
Now on his new quest to release his first commercial title, Haunted: Dungeons of Herwood.

Karl Ots
Technical Consultant at Symbio
Karl Ots believes that smart mobile devices and great user experiences will make the world a better place. He applies that passion to his work as a technical consultant on latest Microsoft technologies at Symbio. With over 5 years’ experience on software and mobile industry, Karl is a Microsoft Student Partner Lead, has published several international papers and holds a patent. His Twitter handle is @fincooper. Karl is also a Windows Phone 8 trainer.

Arturo Toledo
Architect
Arturo Toledo is an Architect. He runs a boutique design studio attending clients in the United States, Europe and Asia. His work explores the convergence of human arts and science to give shape to an ever evolving design practice. With a particular commitment towards design education, Arturo is permanently engaged with the international design and development communities and often travels the world to exchange ideas about design with other designers and developers. Prior to his current venture, Arturo worked for Microsoft in Redmond for 7 years driving design evangelism.

Jeremy Bowen
UX Designer, Windows Phone
Jeremy is a user experience designer on the Windows Phone. Jeremy joined the Windows Phone design studio after recognizing their unique, authentically-digital approach to design and user experience. Before joining Microsoft, he was a graphic designer for the Seattle Art Museum, creating in-gallery graphics, print materials, websites, and mobile apps. Jeremy studied Music and Graphic Design at Brigham Young University, and believes in creating meaningful, delightful experiences – whether it’s a phone, an app, a book, a brand, an exhibit, or music.

Yesterday AppCampus announced that they would award the best app idea at WOWZAPP with a 20 000€ grant, for the idea to be taken to the Windows Phone platform. So in addition to all the expert developer support, designer support, great fun and a ton of sleepdeprived geeks, you may be able to boost your idea with 20 000€!
